Heritage House Publishing is seeking an assistant editor to work in its editorial office in Victoria, BC. Duties will include: recording submissions; “shepherding” projects through the editorial process; writing back-cover copy; participating in brainstorming of titles and subtitles, cover treatments, etc.; preparing content for two catalogues per year; copyediting/proofreading manuscripts as time and production schedule allow; and, in general, assisting the managing editor as required.
This is a full-time position for someone who is detail-oriented and highly organized, creative, flexible and self-motivated. Excellent writing, copyediting and proofreading skills are required; previous experience in the publishing industry is preferred.
