There was good news for our sector in the 2018 BC Budget announcement yesterday afternoon:
- The BC Book Publishing Tax Credit, valued at $3 million annually in non-refundable tax credits, was extended for three years, to March 31, 2021.
- The BC Arts Council will receive $15 million dollars over three years, which will be incrementally added to the $24 million already allocated annually to the Council.
- Creative BC will receive an additional $3 million over three years to help grow the province’s creative economy through film, digital media, music, and publishing.
Also, the Film Tax Credit was extended to scriptwriting.
The ABPBC welcomes the Province’s increased investment in arts and culture and the creative industries in our province and looks forward to discussing sector investment priorities with our funders.
